Dubbo Sewage Treatment Plant

In a joint venture agreement with CCB Envico, the upgrade to the Dubbo Sewerage Treatment Plant is the biggest single capital works project ever carried out by the Council. It ensures Dubbo has adequate facilities in place to service the needs of an estimated population of up to 55,000 people in 2020.

The project has augmented the existing STP with a new biological nutrient removal plant which includes but is not limited to the following provision of two 6 ML/day bioreactor trains with a total of 12ML per day capacity, two 31m diameter secondary clarifiers for solids separation as well as chemical dosing and storage facilities and an in-channel UV unit, supply of high voltage electricity to the site, new motor control center and switch room building, high speed turbo blowers and aeration system, internal recycle  RAS (Return Activated Sludge) and WAS (Waste Activated Sludge) systems and augmentation of the
existing catch pond to a bird wading habitat.

Hay STP 2.jpg

Hay Sewage Treatment Plant

The Wallan STP upgrade is required to cope with the increased development around Wallan over the last 10 years.  Wallan STP must treat all incoming flows until Wallan is connected to the Melbourne metropolitan sewerage system, with the average dry weather flow expected to peak at 4ML/day.

The project augmented the existing STP with a new activated sludge treatment plant, which includes inlet screens, a lift pump station, a bioreactor, chemical storage and dosing, tertiary filtration, UV disinfection, and tanks for storage and balance purposes.

Shoalhaven Heads Wastewater Treatment Plant

This project involved the construction of a new twin cell 8,000 EP Intermittent Decant Extended Aeration (IDEA) wastewater treatment plant. This plant replaced a 60-year-old oxidation ditch plant and provided an upgrade capability to 12,000 EP. The plant incorporated Fine bubble diffused aeration systems complete with blowers.
